A Parked Domain is a domain name that points to your main Web site on your account. In other words they are additional domains that you host on your account. Domain parking as such refers to the registration of an Internet domain name without that domain in any way finding association with any services such as an email or a website.

Organizations usually opt for domain parking either to reserve a domain for future business practices and advertisement or prevent the use of their original domain name for a process known as cybers quatting.  Domain squatting or cyber squatting is the process by which mischief makers register or traffic in, or use an internet domain name in bad faith to profit from the goodwill and value of a recognized domain name. For example, anti-social elements may develop a website like google.com to take advantage of immensely popular google.com.

In case of domain parking, additional domains will display the same website as your primary domain without any additional or extra website statistics.  These types of domains as mentioned above are primarily used for marketing and advertising purposes and to prevent the misuse of a domain name. For example, if your website is carroads.com, then you can purchase carroads.net and assign it as a parked domain so that if a visitor were to type cars.net they would see the same Web site as if they had typed cars.com.

To add a domain, you need to perform the following operations:

1.Login to cPanel and click the Parked Domains icon.

2.In the box to the right of New Domain Name, provide the domain name for which you would like to park on top of your primary domain.

3.Click Add Domain.

It is, however, important to note that you need to register your domain name with a valid registrar before you can enjoy full benefits of domain parking.
